EDUCATION

We have a lively Cheder operating on a Sunday from 10am until 12.30pm. We take pupils at 5 years of age until their Bar or Bat Mitzvah. We currently operate with four classes, each of which has a teacher and assistant. The Cheder is under the directorship of Rabbi Perez.

As well as the normal Sunday morning, Rabbi Perez offers extra sessions during the week, at times to suit, for those pupils who would like to learn something additional to that taught in class. Mrs. Iris Perez instructs girls in preparation for their Bat Mitzvah and we also have individual teachers for Bar Mitzvah lessons.

Our cheder children are encouraged to come to synagogue as much as possible and to encourage them, we hold a monthly Birthday Shabbat, to which all children with a birthday in that month are invited, together with their families, to celebrate with the community at kiddush. We also hold children's Shabbaton twice a year, when experienced leaders entertain the kids.
